Each year here @ frazzled JOY I share with you some goals. Things that I am aiming to accomplish in the year. And at the end of the year I take some time to review that list and see how we did. So, that’s what we’re doing today – looking back at 2016!
Pardon me while I ramble. (and I’ll share some fun and hopefully relaxing photos) I had a revelation this week while trying to figure out how I was going to fit in all the things…again. I know I’ve already talked about that many times I’m sure. So, maybe this revelation is not new. All that aside, I realized that it is impossible for me to do everything. And guess what, it’s impossible for you too. Because you see I have friends who are going through the same thing and feeling exactly the same way. It’s just too much. We have expected too much.
I know, I know, some of you out there would probably beg to differ. You’ve got everything under control and you are doing everything every single day. Well, if this is you, I say ‘hat’s off to you’! Maybe you can share your secret with me or even just a tiny bit of your super powers.
Monday morning. Ugh right? Every Friday we’re all “TGIF” WOOHOO TO THE WEEKEND!” And then Monday comes around and we’re all “ugh”. So ya there’s that. And, by the way, what happened to September?? How is it already October?? 🙄
This Monday is no different. Fall has seriously been uber busy around here! Somehow we have allowed our younger two boys to be way more active in extra stuff then we ever did with our older two. Ya, they had their things, but just not as many. These boys literally don’t have a free evening, except for Saturdays most of the time. But then we usually have a game or a band thing sometime during that day. So, never a full free day ever. Which makes me kind of sad. These poor adolescent boys are ex.hau.sted people. My middle kiddo was so tired that he couldn’t even think to decide what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday… How did we get here?? I have been letting them skip things lately that aren’t required. (But, they love all of their things, so they don’t usually want to skip.) I have so been there. All the things are good. How do we eliminate a good thing??
This week has been busy. Honestly since school started I can say that every week has been busy. Yes, we are down from 4 kids to 2 but neither one of them are driving yet. We are missing our extra drivers that are away at college. 😉 We really do limit their activities, but between school, church, and their one or extra-curriculars we are just going all the time. We have become very intentional about making time for rest, and that has helped a lot. We are hoping to even fit in a date night this weekend!
Long story short, I don’t have a project to share with you today. So, instead I’m going to share a few random things from this week. Sorry in advance for the iphone pics. 😎
I must confess that my mantel décor has stayed exactly the same since late winter/early spring. Once the Christmas decorations came down, it actually stood blank for quite some time… 😳
Then finally I couldn’t stand the blankness any longer so I threw a few spring-ish things up there. Keeping very neutral and basic knowing in my heart that it might very well be that way for a while. And, I was right. Here is where is stood a week ago.
