Back in the day when our kids were young we would sometimes enjoy a family dinner on Valentine’s Day. We would all dress up, I would set a fancy table and we would have a special dinner. It was a wonderful time sharing with the people that we love!! So, I have had fun creating several simple Valentine’s Day tablescapes over the years. Any of which could be adapted to whatever size party of people you have. Even if it’s just you and your beau! 🙂

I started this year with my favorite black and white gingham tablecloth. I bought these for my son’s rehearsal dinner and I love them! They are polyester so they don’t wrinkle easily and they are easy to clean.
Next, I layered on a fun brown butcher paper “XO” table runner that I made. Check out my Instagram stories for a how-to!
For the place setting – a shiny red charger, a white plate, a light pink paper heart, white napkins with black trim, and hot pink ribbon napkin “rings”. I love using ribbon for napkin “rings”! The possibilities are endless, it’s inexpensive, and easy to store.
I kept the centerpiece super simple. This gingham tin from Hobby Lobby a few years ago, a few faux hydrangea stems, and some felt heart picks that I made from felt hearts from Hobby Lobby and a dowel stick – all things that I had on hand. You could easily change this up to make it fancier with real flowers, or more kid friendly with small mylar balloons, or even a couple of stuffed animals that they get to snuggle with after. I love using gifts as table decor!
The brass candle holders are all thrifted. This is one thing that I am always looking out for when I’m thrifting and I’ve grown quite a collection over the years. This year I added a few battery operated faux candle sticks. I like that I can turn these on and get the candle look without the candle mess.
Here are a couple of other tables from previous years if you are looking for inspiration for your table! Clicking each photo will take you to the blog post with more pictures and more information!
