Hey friends! I totally had on my calendar to do a post on the Christmas candy I made yesterday. But, I kept it pretty basic this year, meaning no new recipes, so you can catch that here in this post if you’re curious. 🙂 I’ve had several friends ask me what I buy after Christmas, so, instead I thought I would talk about that! What I shop for and where I shop. Some places might surprise you. 😉 I honestly like after-Christmas-clearance shopping more than black Friday shopping! No, really!!
#5 – Ornaments – Our tree is full of ornaments that we have collected over the years. No particular theme, just things I see and like. What makes shopping for ornaments fun?? I make a few stops at stores I don’t normally shop at – Pier 1, Kirkland’s, and even Cracker Barrel.
#4 – Wreaths, garland, and floral picks – These are a no-brainer for me, but think outside of the box as to where you might buy them. Hobby Lobby already has their Christmas stuff 66% off and a lot of it has already been put away or sold. One year I found the cutest PRE-LIT wreaths at Ace Hardware for a bargain!
#3 – Decor – This could be anything really. Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Kirkland’s (where I got the sign over our fireplace after Christmas last year), even Walmart or Target.
#2 – Tins, boxes, or baskets to hold candy and treats to hand out to family and friends – If this is something that you like to do every year, think ahead to next year and save yourself some money by buying it now and storing it until next year. Some things, like the boxes, come folded so they don’t take up too much space.
#1 – All things gift wrap – Boxes, tissue paper, bags, wrapping paper, and ribbon. Seriously, not sure why anyone would pay full price for this stuff! Stock up for next year friends! Also, think about birthdays and other celebrations while your buying. I buy several large packages of white tissue paper – enough to get me through the entire year, including Christmas. I also look for wrapping paper that can be used for other occasions. Last year I found the cutest black and white buffalo check paper at Tractor Supply of all places! It’s come in handy for way more than Christmas presents!
So, there you have it! Pretty much everything is fair game, except for trees. I haven’t found a good deal on a Christmas tree after Christmas in many years. I really think a lot of stores just keep them in storage until next year rather than sell them for way less. Who knows. I would love a new one, so I will be looking this year. I’ll let you know if I find a good deal or not!! Merry Christmas friends!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful time as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!!
