Okay so you have your space, you know how it needs to function, you have some inspiration, now what next??
You need to decided how much money you want to spend on your fixes. Yes, I said money. Some fixes will cost a little and some fixes will cost a lot. Most of the time I try to land on the low end of cost, because that’s what our budget will allow. At most we might land in the middle.
So, what does that mean?? It means compromise. Which as I mentioned yesterday, is not always easy for me. It means rather than throwing your hands up and saying “nevermind” because you can’t afford to tear out the wall or re-do the floors, you compromise and do the things that you can do. It means doing at least the things that will help make the space function, with a little bit of form.
As I said yesterday – you don’t have to sacrifice design – even on a budget – not totally at least.
Here is my inspiration for our entryway design.
Obviously, there were things about these spaces that weren’t happening. I love the herringbone brick flooring – but flooring was not in the budget. The built-ins the side of the bench are fabulous, but my space is too small for that. So, I had to make some compromises to make my vision happen within my space and within my budget.
Step 5: Determine a budget
