How is it possible that we are at the end of April?? Thankfully this month has seemed to pass by pretty quickly. I know most of us have been sheltering in place this month. The weather here in Oklahoma has cooperated for the most part to allow us to be able to get outside everyday. Which has also really helped with my mood. Not to say I haven’t had bad days, because I have but that’s normal. As we come to the end of the month, we also come to the end of the 30 days to a Clutter Free Home. I hope you’ve enjoyed lightening the load in your home a bit over this time! And, maybe finding some organization systems that work for you and your family.
I thought I would share some tips today on staying organized. Things we have learned (the hard way) along the way.
5 Tips to help you Stay organized once and for all
#1 Find something that works for you. I know I’ve said this before but it’s because it’s truly that important. For example, if you are a paper piler by nature, don’t spend a ton of time fighting against that. Embrace it. Just get a basket (not too big) for that pile and commit to emptying it when it’s full.
#2 Baskets, bins and trays can corral all the small things that seem to get out of control and can make clean-up quicker and easier. Tons of toys all over the family room? Find a large basket or bin (or a few smaller ones) that can house all of those things.
#3 Make sure you educate your family on the system so they know where to put things when they are done with them! It only works if everyone is on board. haha
#4 Re-evaluate and try something new. If you notice a space that you seem to have to de-clutter again and again, then your system isn’t working.
#5 Make it pretty! When a space is pretty you are more likely to strive to keep it that way! This doesn’t require a big budget, you just have to be creative and keep your eyes open for good deals. I have found cute baskets, trays, and buckets from all sorts of places like Walmart, Dollar Tree, Aldi, Hobby Lobby, At Home, TJMaxx, Marshall’s, and Home Goods.
Also, don’t be discourage if any of this is a struggle. With any new habit, it sometimes takes time. But, any progress is better than no progress at all! Keep at it and you will get there!
Switching gears…I’m excited to announce that the One Room Challenge is back and we are participating again! They postponed this awesome challenge to allow for sheltering in place but we are on to start next week! We are taking that necessary precautions as we get supplies, and taking our time, but I am super excited to get this project going! More details on that to come next week! And as always, for all the behind the scenes footage be sure to follow along on Instagram stories!
Have a blessed weekend my friends!!
