Red & Tartan Plaid Christmas Tablescape

Home Decor

If you’ve been around here for any amount of time you know how much I love to put together a tablescape!! I used to labor over them for hours. But, now that I’ve done several, they take me no time at all. The planning and idea process takes a while, sometimes more than a while if I can’t find any inspiration. But, once inspiration strikes and I gather all the things, it comes together in a flash. This time was no different!! I had a couple of different ideas swimming around but I LOVE the one I landed on because it just looks so darn cute! I am also joining my blogging friends again for a tablescape blog hop, so be sure to check out the links at the bottom of this post!!
The other thing you should know if you’re new here is that I do EVERYTHING on a budget. I love showing you how you can set a pretty table without breaking the bank every time there’s a holiday or an event. I keep some basic staples on hand, and then fill in with cute and inexpensive accessories, and of course DIYing what I can!

Some affiliate links used for your convenience. See disclosures for more details.

Basics – white plates from Dollar Tree. Such a great staple that you can mix and match with anything for any occassion! I also buy my glasses there.
I found these cute green glasses there too! (and I think they had blue as well) The silverware I use is just our everyday silverware. I do pull out my Grandma’s set when we have extra company – like at Thanksgiving.
Accessories – Table linens are something that I have started to collect over the years. I have a few tablecloths that I made from inexpensive drop-cloths that I use often – especially at Thanksgiving. Otherwise I use fabric from my stash – like this red corduroy. You can see it’s not quite big enough to cover the table, but I’m okay with that.
I have several sets of napkins – most of which I have made myself using inexpensive solid color fabric. I have also used bandanas (very economical) several times. These buffalo check napkins (that made an appearance on my fall table too) were my first napkin splurge, and they were still a great price. I love them and they are versatile enough to use for lots of occassions. Also, I used them for Thanksgiving and they washed up very nicely!
That would be my biggest tip for my budget concious readers – buy things that are versatile. Like my white dishes, dropcloth tablecloths, and these buffalo check napkins. You’re saving money, and storage space.
Details – The galvanized tray is one I bought from Walmart for the rehearsal dinner. It was under $10 and again, something I knew would get a lot of use. It was the perfect addition to the centerpiece! These cutie flocked trees are from Target and $10 and under! They are sold out at our local store but you can still get them online and have them shipped to your store! The crates they are sitting in came from my stash. I just added the JOY wooden letters that I found at Hobby Lobby and painted red.
The cutie green glitter clothespins were from the Target Dollar Spot last year but I did actually see them this year as well. I just put a dot of hot glue on the clothespin and then pinned the letter to it. Add a little bit of fake snow to the tray and done!
The last detail would be the packages at each place setting. I found this super great tarten plaid wrapping paper at Marshalls. The little square boxes are from Hobby Lobby, as is the ribbon.
Such a cute touch and they could be used as place cards! Of course, my boxes are empty, but how fun would it be to include a little gift for your guests!
Oh! And how great do my flocked trees from Walmart look in the corners? They are not available to ship online but check and see if they have them at your local store and then you can order them online for in-store pick-up! My store still has them in stock. So cute for the price!

I love everything about your tablescape Denise! The different patterns of the black and white napkins and ribbon, the plaid gifts, the way the green glasses tie into the green clothespins and most of all the flocked trees on the table and in the background. It is all so pretty!!
