Sometimes I think that these simple DIY tutorials are not necessary, but then I remember I have a lot of friends who claim to be craft impaired, so maybe they appeal to someone! Haha!

When I was updating the front porch, I hunted and hunted for a simple farmhouse-y welcome sign, and couldn’t find what I wanted. So, I headed to the unfinished wood aisle at Hobby Lobby and found this little gem for $6 ($3.60 with my 40% off coupon).
A couple of coats of black chalkboard paint.
Some “seasoning” with regular chalk. A little decoration around the edges with a chalk pen.
And then a hand-lettered “welcome” finishes it off.
After the initial lettering I like to go back and fill in the letters a bit.
Then I added this cute black and white striped ribbon to hang it by. Luckily the board comes with picture hanging hooks already attached to the back!
So simple and exactly what I was looking for and couldn’t find!
Sometimes it the simple projects that make the BEST projects.
