Hey there friends!! Even though our kitchen is a pretty decent size, the one thing we lack is a pantry. So,that means that our food has to be stored in cabinets in the kitchen. Not ideal, but it works. However, it does take away valuable storage for a lot of other things! For years I’ve considered the idea of adding some sort of storage in the corners of our breakfast “nook”, on either side of the large window. (I struggle with calling it a “nook” because it’s really a pretty big space, but it’s not a dining room, so what else do I call it?? haha) Here’s how it looked before at Valentine’s Day. 🙂

A few months ago I saw these cute wood, metal and glass cabinets at Hobby Lobby that I loved and knew would fit perfectly in the space. The price wasn’t too bad, but I wasn’t 100% sure, so I waited. And, to my luck, they went on a bigger sale than normal and were only $100 a piece. I did have to hit a couple of Hobby Lobby stores to find two, but I did!! (I would link them but they were on clearance, so they are no longer online. I found a couple that are similar here and here.)
I loved how they looked, but I also always knew I wanted some shelves. IKEA to the rescue!! I’ve used these shelf brackets several times in our home and I love them. They look great, are easy to install, and inexpensive! This time they got a coat of spray paint to better match the cabinets.
Here is the finished product!!
I used this wood, and this stain for the shelves. This wood is also inexpensive, but I love it for all the reasons it is less expensive! It’s imperfect – heavy grain, knot holes and all. But, I think that gives wood character, without that you might as well paint it!!
I moved my Keurig over here along with all things coffee. The cute sign was a Hobby Lobby find.
Loving this little coffee station! And I love the fact that I was able to get one appliance off the kitchen counter (another downfall of not having a pantry).
This cabinet is filled with more coffee supplies (that aren’t cute enough to put out on open shelves) in a basket and my cookbooks. That were formerly residing on our “island” and starting to look a little junky.
On the other side, I have some serving pieces, extra glasses (for now) and some table linens. I would like another basket for inside the cabinet like I have on the other side (I may actually have one somewhere around the house), just to make things look a little cleaner in here.
Some wood stars and a little more gingham for a fun summer look! Can’t wait to decorate these spaces for the holidays!
And, as per usual lately, I had to add another plant. 🙂 This little planter came from TJMaxx and I love the texture!! The plant is a spider plant, which I was excited to find because my mom loves these!!
I filled in the rest of the shelves with things I had on hand. I always try to shop the house first!
I love how it fills the space, and I love having a little extra storage!
