A Mantel Filled With JOY
Hey there friends!! The Christmas décor is coming together in our home!! And, I’m so excited! Seriously, what is it about Christmas decorations that make me so cheery?? I don’t know, maybe it’s all the twinkle lights, or all the festive colors, or maybe all the reminders or my Lord and Saviors birth! 😀 No matter what the reason, it definitely puts me in a better mood. Today I’m sharing our mantel filled with JOY! 😉
I used the JOY ‘letters’ last year, but I left them plain. This year I decided to dress them up a bit by wrapping tulle around them. Seriously, couldn’t have been easier – wrap around and tuck in the ends, which means nothing permanent! They can go back to plain, or I can try something else. Perfect.
I don’t know about you, but my favorite decorations are those that I can use and re-use in different ways each year. This way I’m not always buying new things, but I’m getting a slightly different look! (always thinking about the budget 😎 )
This sweet tin nativity was purchased from The Plaid Pineapple shop set up at A Christmas Gathering (a women’s event hosted by our church). I don’t see them on their website, boo. 🙁
The advent scripture cards came from their as well, and they are available for purchase. They are really beautiful, and very sturdy.
Simple has been the theme over the last couple of Christmas’. Greenery, a little ribbon, lights, and reminders of the reason for the season.
The cute trees are part of a trio I bought at a garage sale a couple of years ago. I just plopped them in the cute galvanized bucket (that I bought for my daughters graduation party – from Walmart), and covered up the bottom with a little burlap.
I never decorate with red, except for at Christmas, and then I can’t get enough of it. This cute striped ribbon (from Hobby Lobby) came of the roll curled like this and I thought it was perfect so I let it hang like that. A few mini clothespins (also from Hobby Lobby) hold the scripture cards to the ribbon draped across the mantel below baby Jesus.
Here it is all lit up at night…magical. (grainy iPhone pic)
Ya, I love the lights. 😉 How’s your decorating going?? I hope you’ve had time to get some things out!! I love it so much I like to get it out quick and leave it out long! See ya back here soon with the rest of our Christmas home tour!!
