Sometimes I just can’t leave well enough alone :).
The wall in my kitchen that looked like this
Now looks like this {that blue door is the hardest thing to photograph – I get a different color every time – I promise I did not paint it a new color!!}.
If we’re being honest, this was my plan all along. In the beginning I went back and forth between only having chalkboards on the door, but then I decided to just leap and do the wall as well.
I showed you here how I go about adding trim to the door so I’m not going to go into detail about that here. But, I had a super cute helper so I had to take a couple of pics :).
And here is how the idea goes from my head to actually happening.
No, that drawing is not to scale, that would wake too much time. It’s just a drawing that I can scribble measurements on so I can see it.
After adding the trim I taped off the inside of the boxes I had created with 1 1/2″ painters tape (it’s actually like 1.4″ or something like that). And then added two coats of chalkboard paint.
Remember when using painters tape to remove the tape while the paint is still damp – this will keep your paint from peeling off.
You can see in the photo above a little more clearly the space between the molding and the chalkboard. Just a little added visual interest.
I love how it turned out and that wall is d.o.n.e. done!! I am still anxiously patiently waiting for the fabric I want to go on sale, and in the meantime I have something in the works for the big blank wall in the dining area.
What do you think about chalkboard walls?? I think every room should have a least a bit of one :), and my kids sure do love it!! Hope you have a great day!!
