I am happy to say that our dining area finished!! I am so happy with the outcome! I still find myself staring every time I walk through. 🙂 Isn’t that the best feeling!
If you have been following along you know that it all started by creating a clean slate per say with white walls. I lived with that for several weeks, digesting it more or less. (I really do like color, but sometimes you just need to wipe it clean to get a new perspective on the space.) Then I started adding color back in. First with the gallery wall and last with some sewing projects. Here is how it looks now.
It’s hard to believe that in the 12 years we have lived here we have never had drapes on this window. The fabric I ordered from fabric.com – it is a premier prints cotton duck fabric and I love it. This was my first time to order from them and I was very pleased. Quick delivery and excellent product. This fabric was a great weight for window treatments.
I love pom-pom trim and couldn’t resist adding it to the drapes.
I will share a tutorial on how I made the drapes soon. I tried a new method that was so easy. The table got a little love in the form of monogrammed placements, custom made by me.
Let me just say, sometimes I get a grand idea in my head about what I want something to look like, thinking it’s going to be easy, and then it takes me a week to complete. Ya, that was these placemats. But, I love the result.
The kitchen also got a few custom touches of color.
More pom-pom fringe and some gingham for a little more fun.
Towel from IKEA made into a hanging towel. Using this easy to follow pattern that I found here.
Dollar Tree oven mitts embellished with rick-rack (actually from the scrapbook clearance isle).
I managed to include all of my faves in these projects – orange, pom-poms, gingham, and rick-rack!!
Just in case you’re new here. This is where we started in the dining room.
And the after again.
Oh!! I totally forgot to mention the new chandelier!! If you follow me on Instagram you saw this lovely craigslist score that my hubby found – new, in the box, $25. Yes, that’s right!!
It now looks like a dining area rather than an eat-in area. LOVE!! Now I am off to clean some house and get back to work on my One Room Challenge. Exciting things are happening there too! Can’t wait to share :).

Great job! I love the new wall color and your dining table. Someone in my area is selling that same bench seat on Craigslist and I've wondered what it looks like by the table. I think it's great!

How wonderful! It's always such a smile-maker to have a project in mind, and FINALLY see it to completion, isn't it? (It takes me way too long to get to the end sometimes!). You did a lovely job, and I love the creative touches you added with the custom oven mitts and place mats!

I love it (especially the orange curtains)! We're going to convert our den (totally goes unused) into a dining room soon. There's no room in the kitchen for a table because of the huge counters.

Denise, it looks so amazing! What a huge change from the "before" – love how you were able to still use lots of color but keep the warm, soothing vibe. And all of the pom-pom trim…love!
