In my garden I am growing children. These type of blooms take a long time to fully come to be. 18 years of cultivating. Years of fertilizing, mulching, pruning, and loving. As a mama these are the prize blooms in my garden. The only ones that matter.
We are in the latter phases of their coming to be. Less and less pruning everyday. More and more staking and loving. Such a blessing to see these beauties, these creatures of God, come to full bloom.
My love for them grows as they grow. Maybe I don’t love them more, just more fully, just differently. What is fun during these latter stages is leaning in, and spending time. Figuring out who they are with them.
It is fast and furious when they are young. Changing everyday. Learning new things everyday. In this phase, changes are slower. But, then you fix your eyes on your garden and see a man or a woman before you where a child once stood.

Hello from #fmf
Best type of garden ever! Enjoy the days you have. We're on our second harvest (grandkids) at our house. The crop gets better and better!

I am mommy to littles and I needed this reminder. In between the diapers, mediating sibling squabbles, and filling sippy cups, it is sometimes easy to lose sight of what is truly important. I love seeing their imaginations soar, and hearing the laughter that fills my home. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Denise, Your post truly resonated with me as we are in the same stage of life. I have four children and my oldest is 19. This line is so true of what I'm experiencing as they grow: "Maybe I don't love them more, just more fully, just differently.' Thank you for sharing your gift with words here. And I'm so glad I found you here at FMF. Great post!
