Hey friends! Back in April I got a wild hair and decided to paint our interior doors! I say “a wild hair”, but this is something that I have been thinking about for quite a while. I recently brightened the whole hallway by basically painting everything white. Before that, it was just such a dark and gloomy space, even in the daytime. So, I think that although I loved the idea of painted interior doors, I was afraid that it would make the space dark again. But then I saw a space that Joanna did, of course, with light gray interior doors, and I was sold!
So, several months ago I got a crazy idea to paint the doors in my hallway. Honestly I was bored one day and I already had the paint, so why not.
However, sometimes I’m not in the mood to do paint projects like this one because they are quite time consuming. And, I got interrupted by a more pressing project, the entryway. But then, Christmas hit and again I didn’t feel like finishing the doors. But then, the ultimate motivator, we were having company (other than family – cuz they know how the project thing goes for me). So, I was determined to finish the doors, or at least get them to a point that looked somewhat finished. And, here ya go!!
I’m telling you the amount of light the white paint provides still amazes me. I love it!! It seems so much more seamless when I look down the hall now. The stained wood just seemed to break up things. so. much.
As you might be able to see, I still need to paint the linen cabinets, and the baseboards. What you can’t see is the last door at the other end of the hall that isn’t done ;), and the fact that you can’t see it is exactly the reason why it didn’t get done!!
Linking up with Carmel at Our Fifth House today. If you are visiting from that linky party check out some of my other painting projects here, here, and here.
Well…today as I was covering these in white
God was covering everything in white. The most beautiful ginormous flakes fell from the sky today.
The boys couldn’t wait to get outside and play when they got home from school. This is the fruit of their labor.
Of course there was also some snowball throwing. 🙂 This momma is really hoping we have school tomorrow. Please roads don’t freeze.
I took some time to do a little work on the blog design. I will say it is a work in progress, and will probably change again. Hope you like it.
Oh and…we got a puppy. His name is Ranger.
Isn’t he the cutest?!?
I’ve read several blog posts lately on progress. This is very freeing to me since I almost always have something in progress and very rarely have anything finished. So, I thought I would join the “progress” train. 🙂
As mentioned earlier I am working on lightening up the interior of my home, the biggest culprit of dark being the woodwork. So, last week when my hubby was across the ocean I decided to dive into the darkest place in our home…the hallway.
This is my hallway with the lights on…
This is my hallway with the lights off…
This is my hallway with the lights off and everyone’s bedroom curtains open on a sunny day…
This is what I decided to dive into…
Obviously this is progress, but who knows when I will be done 🙂
Especially since I believe there is another project that is going to trump finishing this one on the time line…the entryway…dun dun duh…
This is what it looks like right now.
We have had MUCH cooler temps the last couple of days. So much so that we are pulling out jackets, gloves and hats for those cold weekend soccer games.
This is where the magic will happen…hopefully
Have a blessed week!! Hope to be sharing a finished product somewhere with you soon!!
