Hey there friends! A couple of months ago, on prime day, I jumped at the chance to get myself an Instant Pot for a great deal. I have been wanting one for a while, but the price tag was holding me back. On prime day, it was almost half off! So, I snagged one. Yay! Of course then I had to learn how to use it. Haha!!

I read the directions, did a test run with some water in the pot, and then tried a few recipes. There is definitely a bit of a learning curve. For instance, the recipe says it takes 10 minutes to cook, but that doesn’t include the time it takes for the pot to heat up, or for the time it takes for the pressure to “naturally” release (which is what most recommend). But, aside from all that it really is as amazing as everyone says it is. If you don’t have one you should definitely put in on your shopping list! This is the exact one I bought. 🙂
I haven’t tried anything fancy yet, but I thought I would share what I have tried. Click the links below the pictures to see the recipes. This simple pot roast recipe was delicious! Even better than how it comes out in my crock pot. I’m thinking because the pressure cooker holds in more of the moisture. (that’s just my guess:)) The best part, the roast was still a little frozen so I just added a little time and it came out perfect. I also threw in a bag of frozen green beans, and they were delicious as well! Being able to cook frozen meat quickly is very helpful for me. I can’t even count how many times I forget to set out the meat in time.

What’s next for my instant pot?? I think I’m going to try making popcorn! We love popcorn around here! We’ve been using this microwave dish to make popcorn for a couple of years now. And, although it makes great popcorn, it doesn’t make a lot at once. Which is fine, unless it’s movie night and EVERYONE wants popcorn. In that case, this will be a great alternative!
