Hey there friends! I am so ready for fall! How about you? For us here it’s not yet feeling much like fall (it’s been in the 90s all week 🙄 ). Pulling out a few fall decor items is helping me get over the hump. Welcome!!
I love throw pillows just about as much as any woman. They just add so much to the feel of a room. However, for years we had maybe one or two in our home. Why? Mostly because I didn’t want to spend the money on them. The less expensive pillows were filled with stuff (polyester fiber-fil) that wouldn’t hold up for more than a year. And, the better pillows that were feather-filled were too expensive for our budget. So…no pillows.
Hey there! I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I know we sure did! Blessings upon blessings!
I always like to take a minute and look back over the past year as the new year is approaching. And, today I’d like to do that with you by sharing the top 10 most viewed posts of 2015 ranked by you the reader! 🙂
Let the countdown begin!

#7 Stenciled Entryway – a stencil and a little paint brought new life to this small space.
#6 Painted Brick Fireplace Surround – I spent years going back and forth on painting the brick, and when I finally got my nerve up I wonder why I waited so long!

#2 Ribbon Makeover – such a simple and budget friendly solution to make what you have work with your new space.
and last but not least, one of my favorite projects and yours –
#1 DIY Floating Mantel – this was easier than expected with maximum impact!
The one thing I would love to pass on to you from 2015 is two-fold: don’t be afraid to try a DIY – you never know if you can until you try!! And, don’t let budget constraints keep you from making your house a home – look at it as a challenge to be creative!!
My goal here at frazzled JOY is to demonstrate how both of these things are possible! Wishing you and yours a happy new year!!
It’s done! It’s wonderful! And I LOVE it!!
Lots of painting happened in this room, lots of DIY’s, and lots of bargain shopping. I shared with you my budget last week and in the end I came in just over $300!! I love being able to get the look I want for less!
If you need a little reminder, here is the before
And here was my inspiration board
I am so excited to share the finished product, so I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking!! There’s a lot, but I know that’s what you want, so here ya go!!
I made the shower curtain out of a dropcloth, some leftover denim chambray from my son’s room makeover, and ribbon for a little extra somethin’.
The mirror frame was a DIY – just inexpensive white wood stained in dark walnut. The new light fixture is from IKEA.
The galvanized metal accessories give a little bit of a rustic feel along with the wood. The planter bucket is from Hobby Lobby and the other container is from a local boutique.
The floating shelves are made with IKEA shelf brackets and again inexpensive stained white wood.
The vanity got new life with some leftover navy blue paint from my paint stash, and some spray paint for the pulls.
I love the spa, rustic coastal feel, and it just might be my new favorite room instead of my least favorite! Yay for the One Room Challenge!!
Please make sure you check out all the designer reveals, and all my fellow guest participants who have been sweating this deadline with me!
Now I need to start thinking about the holidays! Ack! But, at least I now have a nice bathroom for my guests when they stop by!!
Thanks so much for following this journey with me! If you need to catch up:
