A Grateful Heart

Encouragement

It’s Sunday.  And, on Sundays during this challenge I want to take a minute to reflect on some truths that God revealed to me during this journey.

For me, in the beginning of this process it really was about being thankful.  Being content.

As I mentioned, God really opened my eyes to the fact that I had an ungrateful heart.

Rather than being thankful for what He had blessed our family with, I was holding on for the next thing.  The better thing.

I was convinced that this house was not ‘that house’.  And, with that attitude I had missed out on 10 years of enjoying our home.

Sometimes God chooses to not give us what we want, because He knows it would be best if we would just be still and content with what we have for a while.  He is faithful.  He will provide for our needs.  Sometimes He blesses us with our deepest desire.  And sometimes He leaves us in the blessing of His choosing.  And that is always better than we could have ever imagined on our own.

Maybe this isn’t where you are.  Maybe you do feel like you have a grateful heart.  But, maybe there are things those little things about your home that irritate you – like a tiny rock in your shoe – that just keep rubbing you the wrong way. Today – be still.  Look around and be thankful for ALL of the blessings right in front of you.  Those things that irritate you – try to find the good in them.  Let go of the thoughts of what you don’t have.  Release it. Be present.  It’s good to put a new spin on things sometimes.  And please know, I am not perfect in this, I still find myself whining about those imperfect things to my hubby here and again.  But, The Lord always brings me back around to the blessing.
