I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! It has been oh so hot here the past few days, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time with family and friends! Yesterday I took some time to rest and recover the house. I don’t know about you, but we are having fun, the last thing I worry about is cleaning up! HA!
About 3 years ago I got tired of spending mega bucks on cleaning supplies and started researching alternatives. Of course with the help of Pinterest I found a ton! I have been making my own laundry soap ever since which I love and a few other homemade cleaners that I swear by.
One of my favorite all-natural cleaning weapons is vinegar. It really has so many uses but today I would like to highlight my 5 favorite.
I have to say, even as I typed that title I laughed to myself. I’m here to admit that I am not the best at housekeeping. Not for lack of trying mind you, it’s just not something I have ever enjoyed. I love it when it’s done, I just don’t want to do it. Can I get an amen from anyone. It’s okay, this is a safe place.
See I would much rather be
making a mess crafting or DIYing then cleaning one up.
But to my surprise the posts that get the most action on pinterest are the ones about cleaning. This post I did about cleaning baseball pants has been all over. It really is a great tip!! If you have a child who wears a white polyester uniform in the dirt you need to read about this magic soap!
Then, a while back I recreated a cleaning schedule that I thought would help take the guess work out of house work. It got a lot of attention also. I have to admit though, I haven’t been very successful with keeping up with it. :-/
I told you I don’t like to clean.
But seeing so many posts about spring cleaning gives me the itch to do my part to get things in order around our home. If you don’t know A Bowl Full of Lemons you should check her out. She is a gold mine of information on organization and housekeeping. She is currently doing a 30 day spring cleaning challenge. I follow her on instagram and I love that she posts one simple task each day. Easy peasy – I can do that. 🙂 If you don’t do instagram you can follow the link to her blog, where she posts the tasks each week.
And here are my favorite, go-to homemade cleaner recipes. I haven’t bought cleaning products from the store in forever (aside from clorox wipes, because well they are just so handy)!
Thanks for stopping in today!! I hope you were inspired to get something tidied up!! If you don’t hear from me for a while it’s because of this.
Over the past two years I have worked diligently to de-clutter and organize our home in an effort to make it function better for our family, and for it to be easier to keep up. The attic is a place that has been neglected. Mostly because it is either too hot or too cold to even go up there. So, I talked my hubby into taking all of it out and putting it in the garage so I can go through it and set it all straight. So, that is just what I am working on, and man have I found some treasures. I’ll share soon. After I stop crying. (Babies are almost grown.) 🙁
Well here we are. It’s Friday again! Does anyone else just feel like the days or speeding by?!? At any rate, it’s time to party!!
Thank you all for your sweet comments and prayers last week about my mommy burdens. Things have passed, and in the light, are maybe not as bad as they first seemed. I finally sat down and blogged a bit this week. Sharing just some tidbits of what had been going on around these parts. Included was a sneak peek at our new family room paint job.
Each week I find such fun stuff at our get together! Thank you so much for sharing with us and our readers!
I’m happy to share some of my favs with you this week.

I really do try to be frugal with my cleaning supplies so when I saw this I was instantly intrigued. Homemade dryer sheets from View From The Fridge.
And, this greek yogurt ranch veggie dip – yum! I am doing my best to move away from processed food and make more things on my own. This recipe from Natural Chow looks pretty simple and delicious!

Now let’s see what unfolded for you this week!!
You remember the rules 😉
I haven’t forgotten about y’all I promise. All sorts of things have been happenin’ around here lately, I just haven’t had a chance to pull it together to share with you guys! 😉 So, today is a round-up of sorts. A peek into our lives so to speak.
Some progress has been made in the family room update. We contemplated paint colors for the walls. And re-arranged furniture!
Then there was a birthday in the house. 🙂 So, progress put on hold for more important things.
The kids had a day off from school, so we sorted through clothes. My boys have been growing like little weeds!
Paint was chosen and painting began.
The house was a mess and laundry had piled up, so progress paused while I did some laundry. As I was doing laundry, I realized I was running low on laundry soap, so I whipped up a batch.
It’s all gelled (is that a word?) and ready to be poured into containers!
Then the snow came.
And that meant some sledding. (so thankful for a hubby and a dad who loves getting out and playing with his kids no matter the conditions…I hate the cold)
The snow makes me more and more mindful of my oldest and others I know who are among the many in the New England area that are buried under several feet of snow…not inches. I am thankful for technology that allows me to see his smiling face from time to time. Makes this mama heart feel much better – you can tell a lot from just seeing their face, am I right?? (I screen-shot this while we were face-timing the other night – he would not keep his phone still, so the pic is blurry ;))
Finally the painting was finished and all the furniture back in place. Nothing much is styled and pretty yet, so not quite ready for a complete reveal, but here’s a sneak peek. Still lots to do, but we are definitely headed in the right direction! And, I am loving the new furniture arrangement!
See, I told you we’ve been busy!! Hopefully I will be back soon to share more details of the family room transformation. Thanks for following along on our little adventures :).
