There are some changes taking place here at the blog. Hopefully most will happen over the weekend, and hopefully you won’t notice too much of a change (except for design). I am moving to my own site!! I am super excited, and also terrified. I am going to do my best to make the transition seamless. However, if for some reason you don’t hear anything from me for several weeks, please come back and find me at frazzledjoy.com!! (Especially my wonderful email subscribers!) See ya on the flip-side!!
How is it possibly Friday already!?! Like many of you I’m sure, I have been busy reclaiming my house after Christmas. I don’t know about you but for me there just seems to be things stuffed everywhere during December. And by January I feel like I must clean out all the stuff before the walls close in on me!!
I’ve been thinking a lot about the direction things will be headed in 2016 and I’ve nailed down a few things that I would like to accomplish.
*Get more fit. I don’t need to run a marathon or lose a ton of weight. I just want to be able to walk up a couple flights of stairs without being out of breath. Or be able to hold a light fixture above my head without my arms feeling like they are going to fall off.
*Be more hospitable. I enjoy having people in our home. But, we never do it. I can always come up with some lame excuse why. But, I feel like the Lord is calling me to be more open.
There are really only a few things left on my master list to get our home to where I would like it to be style wise. I am super excited about this!!
*Freshen hallway – new paint for walls and trim, and finish panel treatments for all those doors, and possibly new lighting. I am also planning on getting a ton of family photos out of boxes and on the walls!
*Master closet makeover – this will be a full gut job and rebuild. Custom and DIY.
*Master bath details – just a few finishing touches that need to be done – trim paint, window treatment, wall decor, and maybe a shower door.
*Organizing – I’ve done a lot of organizing in our home over the past few years, and we are leaps and bounds from where we used to be. But, there are a few things that have been neglected – the tedious things – photos (both printed and digital), CDs, DVDs, kids keepsakes, our keepsakes. I’m hopeful to make it through a lot this year, but we shall see!!
*Landscaping – this one seems to be on the list every year. It seems to be one step forward and two steps back with our yard. We lost lots of tree limbs and possibly a medium tree that anchors the corner of our house in front. We will see how she fairs in the spring.
*Home repairs – we have some bigger, more boring things that we may have to spend money on this year – ugh – the fun part of owning your own home.
*Blog more – I love to write here and share both projects and family things! You may even be seeing more crafty things. 🙂
*Craft more – I am researching and considering opening an etsy shop or a booth at a local craft mall. I love to do all kinds of crafts and would love to be able to use my creative skills everyday. (wow, there, I put that out there now I’m accountable to y’all about that. trying new things scares me. the possibility of failure sometimes paralyzes me from doing anything. I am working on trusting the Lord’s leading and His power to put one foot in front of the other.)
So, how about you?? Any big plans for 2016? Anybody else venturing out and trying something new?
Hello there friends. I hope everyone had a lovely time celebrating the holidays with family and friends! We sure did!! We also did a whole lot of nothing, and it was great. But, I have to admit, one more day of it might have made me internally combust! I need a project, but what I need more is some quiet so my brain can focus. So, I had planned on coming to you today with some great post about our plans around here for the new year. But instead this
and some bullets.
- Spending more time with my Lord. Reading the Bible and in prayer. Working on refocusing my attention away from worldly things.
- Family Room update – there are lots of ideas swimming around in my head for this room, many of which were re-kindled after seeing this year’s HGTV dream home. Have you seen it? Cape Cod beach home at it’s finest!
- Kids/Guest Bath overhaul – this involves plumbing, tiling, and building. It may actually happen sooner than later, since I think I discovered a leak yesterday…
- Pressing on with JOY through all the breakdowns. And, I’m not talking emotional ones. Although there may be a couple of those too if things don’t stop breaking down – appliances, cars, other house things like leaks.
Number one for me this year, I am fixing my eyes on Jesus, and pressing on.
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of god. -Hebrews 12:1-2 (NASB)
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:14 (NASB)
God doesn’t ask for lofty goals or resolutions, but just calls for us to fix our eyes on Him and press on toward something greater – a deeper walk with Him.
There will definitely be home things happening this year!! Once I get my desk and my mind cleared!! Anyone else out there feel a little scattered after Christmas break??
Today we are taking a stroll down memory lane in the form of the top 10 posts of 2014! If you are new here – thanks for joining me on this stroll!
Looking back is always a good exercise. Sometimes in the midst of the day to day chaos is easy to lose sight of where you’ve been! And man o man a lot has happened around here this year!! So, here we go!!
Our home has come a long way since last year!! I’m so thankful for each of you being along for the ride with me. Hopefully somewhere along the way you were inspired or encouraged!! Looking forward to what 2015 might bring!!

Welcome to Fridays Unfolded at Frazzled JOY!
This week has been busy in this house. As all weeks are really. Every week is just a different form of busy, am I right? I’m not saying that I’m proud of my busyness, it’s just a reality sometimes.
Some of the busy has been fun, and other not so much. Hubby’s work is extra busy this week which means I am extra busy running more taxi-service than usual. 😉
But, the fun…if you follow me on instagram you may have seen this
We are having a ladies dinner at our church tonight. Our fellowship hall will be filled with 50 round tables all decorated by a different table hostess, and I am one of those hostesses. The theme was holiday, and I decided to go with fall since we are hosting Thanksgiving this year I thought that would be helpful. 🙂
Or you may have seen this
Hubby and I are working on a project in our kitchen that has been swimming around in my head for months! And the results are so much better than the vision people!! Don’t you love it when that happens? Can’t wait to share with you when it’s all done and lovely!!
Now it’s time for you to show us what you’ve been up to!! Remember – one link, six blogs!
Here are the rules for participating in the party:
